The schedule is flexible, but I try to be regular about snacks and mealtimes. I try to work with your child's need for naps.
OUTDOOR PLAY / SCIENCE & NATURE FREE PLAY:
Physical activities include races, running games, chalk, hopscotch, circle games, ball games. Science and nature play choices include a wide range of activities including gardening, observing and discussing plants and insects, water play (measuring, pouring, splashing, color mixing, etc), studying clouds, birds & planes, blowing bubbles, sandbox, rolling toys with wheels, shadow games and observation of nature.
IMAGINATIVE FREE PLAY:
Activities encouraged include train table/doll house (social play), dress up, play kitchen activities, hide and go seek, musical instrument band or parade, character play, dancing, puzzles and math skill toys.
ART ACTIVITIES:
Painting large paintings at an easel, smaller paintings at the table, play dough, vegetable art, markers, colored pencils (supervised), glitter glue, paper tearing & pasting (collage), finger painting, making our own toys (puppets, mobiles, etc.).
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Put on a puppet show, tell a story with the felt board, read the group a story, find the letter (in a book, on a sign, a box, etc), silly rhymes, sing a song, opposites, describe what you feel or taste or smell, “write” a letter and put it in a mailbox (what does it say?). We also pick a letter a week to learn the alphabet and phonetics.
KITCHEN CREATIVITY
Laying out vegetable slices to bake (sweet potatoes, beets, potatoes), making play dough or real cookie dough, baking, making pizza, learning to slice things with a butter knife, tea parties, setting the table, measuring beans or rice, counting vegetables.
INDOOR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY (rainy days)
Dancing & circle activities, hide and go seek, indoor ball games, short races, truck & car races with incline board, tumbling, balance beam, animal actors (run like a tiger, jump like a frog,etc.)
